Version 3.71 November 2026
Changed
- The website has moved to abyssplayer.net. Licence activation, setup transfer and the in-app links now use the new address. Existing installs keep working.
Version 3.61 November 2026
Fixed
- Live channels that could freeze (picture and sound) and stay frozen until you switched channel. The player now detects stalled playback and reconnects automatically.
Version 3.527 October 2026
New
- Planned recordings PRO (Android TV) — long-press a programme in the TV guide and choose "Record this programme", or plan a time slot yourself under Recordings → Plan a recording. The recording starts and stops on its own, with a few minutes of margin before and after (adjustable in Settings → Abyss Player Pro), and keeps appending to one file if the connection drops briefly.
- The Recordings screen now has a "Planned" list showing whether each recording is scheduled, running, finished, missed or failed, with options to cancel, stop or remove.
- If a planned recording starts while you are watching another channel, the app asks first and switches after a short countdown.
Good to know
- The app has to be open when a recording is due; if the box is in standby or the app is closed, the recording is marked as missed.
- Many providers allow only one connection. Recording one channel while watching another then needs a second connection, which your provider may refuse.
- Planned recordings are not part of backups or setup transfer.
Version 3.416 October 2026
New
- German language — choose Deutsch (or keep the device language) in Settings → General → Language. It also covers the licence, VPN and update screens PRO. The player stays in English.
- Your own channel groups (Android TV) — long-press a channel and choose "Add to group" to put it in a group with a name you pick, for example "Football". Groups appear in the Live category list below Favorites; rename or delete them with a long press. Channel groups are part of backups and setup transfer.
- DNS fallback setting — Settings → Network: choose Cloudflare (default), Google, your own DNS-over-HTTPS server or Off. Off keeps every lookup on your own DNS, for example a Pi-hole.
Improved
- Web radio keeps the screen awake while a station plays, so the box's own screensaver no longer takes over and stops the music.
- Video playback holds a Wi-Fi lock for steadier streaming on boxes that save Wi-Fi power.
Version 3.312 October 2026
Improved
- Choosing Live, Movies or Series now moves you straight into the category list (the first category below "All"), and D-pad Up takes you back to the tab you came from.
- Newer player engine and updated network libraries for better stability, plus improved Dolby / DTS audio support.
Fixed
- Holding OK on a channel opened the menu, but it closed again the moment you released the button, so only "Add to favorites" ever worked. The menu now stays open so you can pick any option.
- After "Refresh playlist now" every live channel could show the same channel number. Channels are numbered 1, 2, 3 … per category again.
- Programme titles and descriptions with an ampersand (&) no longer show up as "&".
Version 3.26 October 2026
New
- Dolby / DTS audio setting — if your box stays silent on DTS films, choose "Decode DTS in app" (or all Dolby + DTS) in Settings → Player & display. The app then decodes the sound itself and plays it in stereo. "Auto" keeps the normal passthrough.
Improved
- Recording PRO — choose where recordings are saved, including USB storage.
- Updated app components for better stability.
Fixed
- The app could freeze when importing a config or backup file on newer Android TV boxes (Android 13 and up). The file picker now opens normally.
Version 3.13 October 2026
New
- Series show cover, plot, genre, rating and cast before you start, like movies do, and each episode shows its own picture when your provider has one.
- Trailer button on movies and series (Android TV and phone) when your provider supplies a trailer. It opens in the YouTube app.
- Account info on your playlists — expiry date and the number of simultaneous connections, straight from your provider.
Improved
- Next episode starts earlier — the "Up next" prompt now appears 30 seconds before the end and starts the next episode after a short countdown, instead of waiting for the credits to finish. Choose 10, 20, 30 or 60 seconds in Settings → Player & display. Choose 10 to watch the credits.
- WireGuard reconnects by itself PRO after a dropped connection or a tunnel that has silently stopped carrying traffic. Playback pauses and resumes on its own.
- Stream info shows more — which video and audio decoder is running (hardware or software), every audio track in the file with whether your box can play it, dropped frames, buffer, memory, and the VPN tunnel's health.
- TMDB attribution added where TMDB data is shown.
Version 3.03 October 2026
Major release — web radio, moving your setup between devices, steadier live TV.
New
- Radio — browse and play web radio stations from every country, with genres, search, favorites and a live visualizer. Keeps playing while you browse other tabs.
- Move your setup to another device PRO — copy your playlists, favorites, hidden items and settings to another box on the same Wi-Fi with a one-time code. Your Pro key goes along on your own network. See the FAQ.
- Settings in sections — the Settings screen on Android TV now has a menu on the left (Playlists, Guide, Player & display, Network, Metadata & subtitles, General & parental, Backup & transfer).
Improved
- Steadier live TV — live channels now use the direct TS stream by default (what most set-top boxes use). A new Live stream format setting lets you switch back to HLS if a channel won't play.
- Better provider compatibility — the app now identifies itself like the VLC player by default, which most panels accept. The Custom User-Agent screen has quick presets.
- New Pro keys work on up to 4 devices.
Version 2.829 September 2026
Fixed
- Playback errors (403) after reconnecting the VPN PRO.
- Faster and more reliable startup: the app no longer repeats the same catalog scan several times at once or keeps retrying a failing category non-stop.
- Categories you've hidden stay hidden everywhere, including search on Android TV.
Version 2.723 September 2026
New
- Hide individual live channels from the channel list.
- Custom User-Agent per playlist for panels that block the default.
- Edit an existing playlist without deleting and re-adding it.
- Backup & restore — export your playlists, favorites, hidden items and settings to a file and restore them later or on another device.
Fixed
- D-pad focus in the channel long-press menu on Android TV.
Version 2.623 September 2026 · required update
New
- Bypass local network option for VPN / anti-throttle PRO, so local Jellyfin/Plex servers stay reachable.
- Favorites inside the lists — on Android TV, favorites now sit at the top of the channel, movie and series lists instead of a separate tab.
- Simpler step-by-step login on Android TV; the server URL no longer needs http:// or https:// typed.
Fixed
- Wrong tab after going back from a movie (phone).
- Duplicate VPN entries when saving a tunnel PRO.
- Clearer error messages during playback problems.

Version 2.210 September 2026

- Startup loading, channel browsing and background refresh reliability.
- Hysteria2 bandwidth settings and config-file import PRO.
Version 1.915 August 2026
